One of the biggest disadvantages of the original was the draw distance and pop-in-and medium settings on this game is basically the same as the original Crysis. While the game isn't as poorly CPU optimized as the original, it's still pretty bad. So basically some things are better, but other disadvantages are carried over from the console versions. However, the stripped down console versions of Crysis were able to take advantage of multiple CPU cores, so EA Games took this version of the game which had a lot of things taken out and a dumbed down A.I., threw a new coat of paint on it, and released the game as a "remaster".
The result of this is that every CPU generation has only slightly increased the frame-rate of Crysis and the game can still drop to less than 40 fps even on a 10900k. Crysis was designed for single core CPUs and instead of increasing the clock speeds of single core CPUs over time like people thought would happen when development on the game began, we went to multicore CPUs running at similar clock speeds. However, this doesn't change the fact that the game should be running better on my PC than it currently is. And it's true that in less than a year my current PC is going to look like absolute garbage because the 9th generation of video games starts in a few months.
